VeloMetro Mobility is a transportation company that has developed a new electric-assist velomobile and sharing service, called Veemo. Based in Vancouver, BC, VeloMetro Mobility has designed all of its technology in-house, including the vehicle, the Veemo app, and the sharing system.
Veemo is an enclosed, electric-assist three-wheeled bicycle designed to provide car functionality for urban core travel. Veemo is outfitted with familiar handlebars for steering, pedals for movement, handbrakes for stopping, and a strong enclosed body to shield users from weather. A trifecta of human, battery, and solar power makes Veemo the cleanest, meanest, and greenest vehicle on the road. Veemo provides a clean and sustainable transportation alternative.
Technically, Veemo velomobiles are regulated as electric-assist bicycles, but are built with many of the comforts you’d find in a car.
Not at the moment. Our primary focus is to launch Veemo as a pay-by-the-minute sharing service. Once we prove success in the sharing model, we will explore a consumer sales model.
We operated a pilot at the University of British Columbia in 2017/2018. We are currently in production for a full-scale commercial launch into Vancouver soon.
Yes. The Veemo velomobile has an electric-assist drivetrain which helps you get up to speed quickly, tackle steep hills, and ride farther.
As an electric bike, we can supply motor power up to 32 km/h (20 mph).
No! You don’t need a driver’s licence, and insurance is included in the by-the-minute rate.
Anywhere you can ride an electric bicycle. It’s classified as a bike so you can ride it on the road, bike lanes, or on the bikeways.
Instead of owning and having access to just one velomobile, you share access to an entire fleet, conveniently parked close to wherever you may be. You can find and reserve velomobiles from your smartphone.
