Business Development Associate

This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic startup in the on-demand mobility industry. VeloMetro is seeking a highly motivated self-starter who thrives in a startup environment and is excited to be an agent of change for modal shift – getting people out of cars and into clean, active transportation. In this role, you will pursue partnerships to grow our deployments of shared, electric assist velomobiles for public and private uses.

You will need a strong ability to quantify and think strategically about business and product opportunities, as well as a demonstrated track record of creating high-value partnerships.

What you’ll do:

  • Research, create, evaluate, and qualify partnership opportunities to drive revenue generation and production volume
  • Secure MOUs and build vehicle deployment pipelines
  • Work with engineering to drive product partnerships and influence the product roadmap to match market demand trends and drive growth
  • Lead contract negotiations to establish strong working partnerships grounded in sustainable economics for both parties
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders to support fleet launch strategy
    Provide post deal support including managing customer expectations and project implementation
  • Build and maintain partnerships with federal, provincial and local governments, businesses and not-for-profit organizations, parking operators, organizations that present co-branding opportunities and grant organizations
  • Work with marketing staff to execute promotional activities
  • Prepare and support grant applications for commercialization projects, leveraging partnerships that you have help to develop

Your experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in B2B business development
  • Degree in business areas preferable but not essential
  • Proven deal closing experience and familiarity with contracts are essential
  • Investment banking, management consulting, private equity experience is a plus
  • Strong use of insights and data-informed decision making
  • Startup hustle and passion for taking cars off the road
  • Extremely proactive, self-starter mentality with strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to identify and provide comprehensive solutions for varying partner needs
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in an unstructured, fast-paced environment

Strongly preferred:

  • Experience using Excel, Google Apps, and business intelligence applications
  • Experience working with businesses, not-for-profit organizations, as well as governments at all levels
